Aussie Soles boosts global profile after capital raise
Australian orthotics company Aussie Soles is pushing to take a bigger share of the estimated $116 billion global sandals market after successfully raising capital in the United States.
The company, which was founded by Craig Taplin in 2005, raised $165,000 in its first crowdfunding campaign in the United States and is preparing to launch a second campaign in Australia.

“We aim to make Aussie Soles a household name in the footwear world,” he said.
Aussie Soles was born when Taplin created a line of arch support foam flip flops and clogs for all ages. The shoes are made using the latest technology and plant-based and recycled plastic for a truly greener stance.
“We want to support as many people as possible on the planet while supporting the earth with sustainably sourced and recycled materials, with an emphasis on plant-based sugar cane moss for our flip flops and outsoles. , and Aussie Merino sheepskins and fleece for our winter lines.”
Taplin says Aussie Soles’ top priority in 2022 is to successfully launch its winter line of arch-support Ugg boots and slippers while developing strong relationships with podiatrists and new partners.
The company focused on its direct-to-consumer (D2C) business globally, launching three new sites in the US, Europe and the UK, while expanding its business-to-business (B2B) strategy in Australia . Its footwear line is available at a range of specialty stores, including drugstore, gifts, sporting goods, podiatry and now the Gas & Convenience (P&C) channel.
