Could Evansville see two feet of snow on January 15th or 16th?

Are you the Let It Snow team or the Oh Hell NO team?
If you’re the type of person who enjoys good snowfall, read on. If you’re the type of person who hates snow, you’ll want to keep reading as well, because as it is, there’s a chance you’ll be happy when the weekend rolls around anyway.
Paducah’s National Weather Service (NWS), along with our local Evansville area meteorologists, are currently monitoring a winter weather system that could do one of two things when it visits our area this weekend. . It could give us a whole bunch of nothing, or it could give us close to two feet of snow.
Based on this NWS post this morning on its Facebook page, it certainly looks like the first one will be likely. Southern Indiana and western Kentucky can see a light coating of dust if we see anything, while southern Illinois and eastern Missouri suffer the consequences.
However, a friend of mine who lives in Fort Wayne and ranks as a fan of snow shared this post from the ABC-TV affiliate meteorologist in that area which shows that everyone will see something, especially western Kentucky which is almost completely covered in a pink / purple blob (signifying a greater amount of snow).
It certainly seems like an all or nothing scenario. So what is it ? I spoke with meteorologist Joe Bird this morning (Wednesday, Jan 12) and asked him what the models he works with were showing him. He said it was too early to tell at this time, as the weather system that appears to be heading in that direction is still just off the country’s west coast over the Pacific Ocean, but despite this , some models he examines show we’ll have nothing, while others predict the possibility of up to 24 inches of snow. Joe said that what we will or will not get depends on a low pressure system that they are monitoring. Listen :
Farmer’s Almanac Prediction
If we see snow this weekend, regardless of the amount, it will be the second time in a week, which will come as no surprise to the people behind the Farmer’s Almanac who predicted September in their annual winter weather forecast. the Ohio Valley. (that is, we), “will have more than their fair share of cold, scaly weather in January.”
If their prediction holds true, and so far it appears to be, it won’t be the last snowfall we’ll see before spring. They went on to say that there was a chance we would end up in a ‘winter whopper’ by the end of February. Keep this snow shovel handy.
