Evening rodeos, early breakfast, races – including one in cowboy boots – are all part of Lewiston’s Independence Day celebration – Cache Valley Daily

LEWISTON – One of the many weekend celebrations is the annual Lewiston 4e July activities that start on Friday evening July 1st with an early evening rodeo also taking place on Saturday evening.
On KVNU’s For the People program on Tuesday, Lewiston City Council member Brooke Hyer said a full day of events will take place on Monday, the 4e.
“We tried to plan a whole day full of events, so if you’re coming from out of town, you can stay until the fireworks at night,” she said.
The morning begins with the Cannon Salute, Flag Ceremony and Pancake Breakfast starting at 6 a.m. at the City Park Pavilion, the Patriot Border Run at 7 a.m., the Famous Parade at 9:15 a.m. with the Great Marshals Willard “Soup” and Elaine Jessop. Another flag ceremony with a patriotic speaker, Russ Madsen, is at 11:30 a.m. Something that has historically been part of rodeo has been moved to an earlier timeslot on its own, cowboy boot races being held at noon.
“We have this cowboy foot race, and just to make sure those who maybe haven’t been to the rodeo before,” Hyer explained, “(we) wanted to make sure they understood that this had to be done in cowboy boots. We thought it was probably good to make that clear so everyone comes with proper footwear.”
Later in the evening it’s the Wells Jackson Memorial Horse Pulls at 6:30 p.m. The night ends with the grand spectacle of fireworks, launched from the rodeo grounds at dusk.
