I gave my daughter a £ 600,000 apartment, a £ 40,000 bracelet and clothes worth £ 60,000 for her 1st birthday
British millionaire Barrie Drewitt-Barlow’s youngest daughter received a £ 600,000 flat for her first birthday – and that was just the start.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 51, originally from Manchester but living in Florida, welcomed her first child with fiance Scott Hutchison, 25, a surrogate-born daughter named Valentina, in September 2020.
Now the businessman, who owns a global medical research firm, has revealed the gifts she received on her first birthday – and we think you’ll be shocked.
Because, among the transport, was a posh apartment in the new Manchester New Square development.
“I bought him a £ 600,000 apartment in Manchester as an investment for the future,” Barrie told Fabulous.
“I [also] hired a personal shopper to tour London and buy her a selection of designer clothes.
“She spent around £ 60,000 on them. They won’t go to her until after Christmas because she is growing so fast.”
Meanwhile, Scott bought her a Tiffany diamond bracelet worth £ 40,000 and a Tiffany love heart necklace.
Barrie described Valentina, conceived via a surrogate mother, as “such a sweetheart.”
“She’s becoming a real little girl now,” he said.
“She’s just turned a year old and she’s developing a bright personality. We didn’t know what to get the baby who already has everything for her birthday, so we bought her an apartment.”
Valentina’s older sister Saffron, 21, also has an apartment in the same building.
“Saffron bought an apartment in the same building, so we thought it would be nice to have one for his sister there as well,” he said.
“There are also a lot of footballers in the building.”
And the proud daddy was happy to admit that his little girl was spoiled.
“We spoil her for sure and it will never stop,” he said. “The problem is, there will always be people who don’t like our way of life, that’s for sure.
“We don’t hurt anyone and we don’t expect anything from anyone.
“We employ over 150 full-time people in our businesses and pay our taxes like everyone else.
“But people still have a problem with us!
“I say ‘what the hell’. Don’t judge my life until you’ve lived there one day.”
Barrie, who runs a number of businesses including a surrogacy agency, said he worked hard for his money.
“We earn our money, nobody gave us anything,” he added, explaining that he had organized clinical trials of vaccines against the coronavirus. “We are not old money with a legacy. We have earned and still earn every penny we earn. We work long hours, seven days a week.
“People don’t see it, but last year I won over £ 14million.
“This year I will earn around £ 20million myself from the vaccine clinical trials we conducted during Covid.
“Last year I won over £ 14million”
“Some people said we were like the old-fashioned war profiteers who made so much money out of misery, but if we didn’t, someone else would.
“It gives us our lifestyle and I make no apologies for it.”
Valentina’s father Scott had previously dated Barrie and ex-husband Tony’s daughter Saffron, 21, for several months, but she is very supportive of their relationship.
Previously, Barrie had told Fabulous about how Valentina, just a few months old, had an incredible wardrobe full of designer items – and Saffron only lets her little sister wear Gucci socks.
Barrie told Fabulous: “She already has several pairs of Ugg boots and many Burberry, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Versace. A real spoiled little lady. Saffron buys her Gucci socks and won’t let me put anything else on her. “
Saffron lives with Fathers Barrie and Tony, ex Scott, his twin brother Aspen, younger brother Orlando, 17, twins Jasper and Dallas, 10, and baby Valentina in a 10-bedroom mansion costing £ 6million .
And she insists that there is no “weird love triangle” between her, her father and her ex.
She said: “We had fun, and Scott is a wonderful guy, all my friends liked him, but we were better as friends.”
Saffron has known Scott since he was 13, when he came to work for his family as a personal assistant. They dated when she was 18 and remain close friends.
Meanwhile, Barrie and Tony, 55, made headlines in 1999 when they became the first same-sex couple to be officially registered as parents.
Saffron and Aspen, also born by surrogate, were the first and second of five children together.
The couple became civil partners in 2006 and married in 2014, but Barrie later revealed that they “slipped into a platonic relationship” after Tony was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2006.
Scott has become a “shoulder to cry on” as Tony, who is now in remission, was hospitalized in 2018.
Last year, Barrie said Tony was still his “true love” but they had ended their 32-year relationship.
Speaking to Closer, Saffron revealed that Tony gave his blessing to Barrie and Scott, and said his other father found happiness with his nurse, Brent.
Meanwhile, Saffron revealed that she spent $ 100,000 on surgery after the trolls said she had flat breasts, now her father wants her to have more.
She also spoke about her fashion must-haves – and why Primark isn’t one of them.
Additionally, Tony revealed how he and Barrie are still best friends despite their split.
