Morgan Evans breaks silence on Kelsea Ballerini divorce: ‘I wish it had been different’ | New
Morgan Evans has confirmed her divorce from country star Kelsea Ballerini.
The “Kiss Somebody” singer took to social media on Monday night (August 30) to mourn the end of his marriage. Evans wrote a heartbreaking update to his personal Instagram Story.
“I am very sad to confirm that after almost 5 years of marriage, Kelsea and I are separating,” Evans shared. “I wish it were otherwise but unfortunately it’s not.”
The Australian native did not reveal the reason for the split. Ballerini was the first to speak out and talk about his relationship status.
“My friends, I have always done my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold. now a public record, so I wanted you to hear directly from me that I am in the process of getting a divorce,” the hitmaker said. “This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort. which has finally come to an end.”
She continued, “It’s hard to find the words here…but I’m extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the seasons to come.”
The flame between the two was first lit in 2016 when they co-hosted Australia‘s Country Music Channel Awards. After the star-studded affair, Ballerini and Evans shared their first kiss at an after-party. During the same year, Evans proposed on Christmas Day with a personalized engagement ring.
The country couple eloped to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in 2017 to get married by the sea. The platinum-selling entertainer wore an elegant Berta dress with lace and delicate detailing. According to People, Ballerini met Evans barefoot at the altar before exchanging engraved wedding rings. After the intimate ceremony, the lovebirds navigated the country music space together and congratulated each other in the public eye.
Most recently, Evans applauded Ballerini at the 2022 CMT Music Awards, where she hosted her Tennessee home after falling ill with COVID-19. As the singer performed her upbeat single “HEARTFIRST” from her own garden, Evans captured every moment with pride.
According to court records obtained by E! News, Ballerini filed for divorce on Aug. 26 due to “irreconcilable differences.” Amid the split, Ballerini is set to release her fifth studio album, “Subject To Change,” on September 23. As for Evans, he will be celebrating Labor Day at the Boots And Brews Country Music Festival in Santa Clarita, Calif.
