Oshoala wins Spanish Women’s Primera Division Golden Boot

Oshoala achieved the commendable feat despite missing three months of the season due to recurring injuries and having only 19 league appearances

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has won the Spanish Primera Division women’s golden boot after finishing the season as the league’s co-top scorer.

The 27-year-old striker with this feat became the first African woman to win the league’s top scorer award since its introduction in 2011.
Oshoala achieved the enviable feat despite not playing for three months of the season due to recurring injuries.

The Nigerian has scored 20 goals in 19 league appearances for Barcelona Femeni and she is set to share the award with Madrid CFF’s Geyse Ferreira, who also netted 20 goals in 27 appearances.
The price was confirmed on Sunday after the Barcelona women’s team finished the season with a perfect total of 30 wins – without defeats or draws, after beating Atletico Madrid 2-1 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

She came on for Jenifer Hermoso in the 63rd minute of the game but couldn’t add to the 19 goals she has scored this season.
Oshoala previously played for English clubs Arsenal and Liverpool, Chinese club Dailan and Nigerian clubs Rivers Angels and FC Robo before joining Barcelona in 2019.
