Sydney set to acquire $ 300 million indoor ski resort
Despite the fact that most of us spend the whole year wearing only cropped shorts, swimsuits and, if the weather gets wet, the Ugg beanie and pair of boots, the allure of spending time in the snow is strong. For a nation that prides itself on the genre of beaches so well-known, international audiences know them from TV shows like Bondi Rescue, trading everything for weeks on the snow is becoming an increasingly popular pastime. But while the Snowy Mountains and Thredbo serve as the main hot spot for all your snow-related activities, it looks like those in Sydney will soon come to be spared the grueling road. Now, Western Sydney will host Australia‘s first ski and snow covered resort.
Rightly called “Winter Sports World”, the $ 300 million site will become the new destination for all things snow. You can expect a 300-meter ski slope for advanced skiers, a 120-room luxury 4.5-star hotel, an Olympic ice rink, ice climbing, snow games, and all the restaurants and coffees you would like to serve beers and more importantly that hot chocolate you need to get into the ski lifestyle.
Set to open on the Nepean River in Penrith in the winter of 2024, renderings posted to the resort’s social media represent a winter wonderland, and we can’t help but imagine ourselves there in the future. According to the development’s website, Winter Sports World hopes to be a space where people with experience on the slopes can visit for the snow, whether they are novice skiers looking to learn the techniques necessary to master skiing or skiing. snowboarding, or the winter Olympians. seeks to train for sports such as downhill skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, snowboarding and curling.
The images are remarkable in that the architecture is not only stunning, but looks somewhat futuristic from the outside with this winter palace enclosed behind a sculptural facade, which stands in a lush green setting. But while there might not be snow outside, inside the ski resort will have “ perfect snow all year round ”. We’re not quite sure how it works but hey, let’s leave that part to the experts.
It may be a while before you hit the slopes at Winter Sports World, but this ski resort seems like the new destination for all your snow activities. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
