The fashion trend we never expected to see again: UGG boots are back
The 2000s saw some questionable fashion trends … gypsy skirts, velor tracksuits and low rise jeans. But perhaps one of the most controversial at the time was the UGG boot.
Every celebrity worth its salt had a pair of them, everyone from Beyonce to Britney Spears were thrilled to wear their UGGs, and it didn’t take long for the warm and comfy boot to make it onto all of our lists of. desire.
And while you might have thought UGGs were tossed in the fashion trash, it looks like they’re making a comeback.
A recent report from Lyst showed UGG’s searches increased 242% from 2019.
UGG mini boots ranked fifth in Lyst’s top 10 most fashionable women’s products in the world. The report said: “As consumers spend more time at home, demand has increased for comfortable and practical shoes that are more winter resistant than sandals.
“UGG also has products in both lists this quarter, with its classic ultra mini boots – worn by models like Irina Shayk and Joan Smalls – the 5th hottest female product.”
It’s not entirely surprising that the boot that many of us love to hate is back. Now that we are working from home, the UGG boot is the perfect choice when it comes to footwear.
While the boot was originally worn by surfers to stay warm after morning sessions, it has since become iconic for its soft sheepskin and total comfort.
Perfect for containment, the UGG boot is a great option if you’re going from the kitchen to the bedroom and out for a walk.
However, the style of boot that people wear these days differs slightly from its 2000s incarnation.
The mini UGGs that are so trendy right now sit at the ankle, rather than the mid-calf versions of the time.
Everyone from Emily Ratajkowski to Stacey Solomon has been spotted in their mini UGGs, and we have to admit, we think they’re really, really comfortable.
While the ugly shoe trend isn’t sexy or stylish, it is comfortable. When we have nothing else to do but lounge around, we might as well have fun for ourselves. We’ll be wearing heels again, but until then you’ll find us in our mini UGGs.
