Over the weekend I enjoyed a long awaited stay in the UK on the Isle of Wight, where I intended to hike the coastal paths and breathe the sea air.
But in typical British fashion, the weather was more unpredictable than ever. Before crossing the water, I would frantically check the forecast to help me pack my bags (I tend to overload).
While my suitcase was filled with jeans and sweaters, light raincoats and a thicker quilted coat, it was the shoes that proved to be the problem.
With walks in mind, but torrential rains waiting, I debated between rubber boots, sneakers or Timberland boots. Eventually, I went with the latter – and I couldn’t have been without them.
Why we rate them
Timberland boots were a fan favorite for me over 10 years ago. I have crossed many pairs over the years, and most recently I invested in a new pair for a trip to Iceland a few years ago.
Since then I have worn them on wet winter walks, snowy walks and even on warmer days when the paths are a bit muddy, which is why I decided to take them for the stay.
When you walked the Tennyson Trail, crossed the countryside off the beaten path, and walked along the pebble beaches, it was a godsend.
True, Timberland boots have to be worn, but this is easily combated with layers of thick socks – then these are the most comfortable and sturdy shoes you can come across.
This model is made from premium waterproof leather, which is sustainably sourced, while the laces are made from recycled plastic bottles.
They have a thick rubber outsole, which has the necessary grip ideal for long walks and to keep you on your feet on any terrain.
We love that the boots also feature a seam sealed waterproof construction, so rest assured no water or cold drafts will get near your little feet.
Not only is the outer fabric water resistant, weather resistant and sturdy, the interior also provides comfort, support and insulation.
The boots feature PrimaLoft insulation, as well as a removable anti-fatigue footbed, which provides extra cushioning for extended wear.
The 6 inch boots are available in UK sizes 3 to 7, including half sizes, and are also available for men and children.
They come in a range of colors, including classic sand, my favorite as they coordinate with everything, as well as brown, dark brown, and black.
For those who prefer a lower boot, instead of that ankle-deep design, Timberland has you covered.
For £ 180, it’s a worthwhile investment.
What the critics say
Timberland’s 6 inch boots have garnered hundreds of rave reviews from various dealers, here’s what buyers have to say.
“My boots lived up to the usual high standards of Timberland products. I’m now in my 4th pair and I know they will be comfortable and last a long time. I think they look great too and several friends have them. They were also delivered within 20 hours of ordering. Awesome! “
“Really comfortable and sturdy and they look great.”
“The shoes are cute and stylish. Plus, they are very comfortable when I have worn them. They fit perfectly. I love it !!!”
“I bought a pair of these boots 20 years ago and they are still my go-to pair. Hiking, kicking, gardening, digging snow, moving (x5) to the supermarket … whatever … they lasted me well! Let’s be honest … they look good too. “
“These are honestly the cutest Timbs I’ve ever seen! I just had to order them and I’m so glad I did. I got so many compliments about them.”
