A TikTok trend is causing people to wear scissors in their Ugg boots and give them a whole new look.
In October 2020, users of the video sharing app started sharing tutorials that involved trimming the seams of beloved pairs of Uggs to remove excess fabric and transform the lined winter shoes. sheepskin in slippers.
A TikTok user who uses the username @ abbyj420 stated in a tutorial that she decided to recycle her 7 year old Ugg boots because they were “all kinds of jacked” but didn’t want to throw them away.
The TikToker cut along the longest vertical seam and continued along the back of the shoe, where there is an “Ugg” tag and a piece of stiff fabric.
The video shows the final product, which looks like Ugg’s tasman slippers which sell for $ 100 on the brand’s website.
Other Ugg owners shared TikToks which showed how they turned their boots into scuff marks that look great for wearing around the house.
Other TikTokers trim their Ugg boots taller to look like a style that resembles the brand’s “Classic Ultra Mini” shoe.
Some TikTok users have appeared to cut their taller boots into shorter versions that resemble the brand’s own. Classic Ultra Mini Shoe, which Ugg launched in August 2020.
The $ 140 shoes reach the ankle and are available on the Ugg website in three neutral colors, plus olive green and a lavender hue.
Since Ugg released their Classic Ultra Mini boots, celebrities including Emily Ratajkowski, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls and Kendall Jenner have been pictured wearing the style.

At the time, Lyst noted that “as ugly boots replace ugly sandals after summer, demand for UGG boots increases 24% week over week.” Lyst’s report also said that as of September 2020, there had been over 41,000 searches for Ugg, and the Classic Ultra Mini boot was among the most searched styles.
As warm-weather shoes continue to gain popularity, it looks like TikTokers has found a way to buy a whole new pair.
